“99% practice and 1% theory.”
~Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

To get better at anything we must practice; whether it is learning a musical instrument, an athletic activity, a language, yoga asanas or just becoming more aware, compassionate and peaceful people.  Clearly if you don’t practice you won’t improve.  And clearly the more you put into something the quicker you improve.
Yoga practice is something that eventually enters our entire being so that practice is what we are doing all the time.  Practicing to bring about a subtle, steady and clear mind so that as we move through our day we feel centred and aware of our inner world and the outer world around us.  Thus hopefully choosing how we react to things rather than just allowing our senses to drive us into reactions we later regret.
This page is to give some suggestions of books that we’ve enjoyed that bring the 1% theory into our life practices.  It only takes reading 10-20 minutes a day to help your consciousness understand the theory behind our practices.  And when you have time, you can spend a little more time delving into these books to inspire you in your yoga and yogic life practices.
Keeping in mind that it isn’t about being able to spout out a lot of fancy Sanskrit or anatomical words that matters; it’s being able put the information to use in a practical, concrete, every day way that will magically reveal the beauty of your inner being!
